I don’t want you to feel alone with me in my hooves. So, I’m asking you… go there and make friends… because you deserve to live, but I’ll never deserve to have you. Goodbye, my son.”

Two years after the Great Equestrian War, a mare subjects herself to seclusion from the public world. She has befallen under a state of deep depression and loneliness. To make matters worse, she was raped by a stallion, rendering her pregnant as a result. When the time of conceiving came, the mare never felt to handle the responsibilities of being a mother and was never ready to become one. So, she gave birth to a young baby colt and almost immediately after that, abandoned the foal on the doors of the Canterlot Orphanage.

The colt would be named "Howling Star" by the care-taking institute he ultimately ended up in the early years of his life.
